Children waiting for adoption

At any one time, there are over 100 children within the Black Country boroughs that need safe, loving, and permanent families. At Adoption@Heart, we are always looking for more adopters that can meet the needs of the children that are waiting to be adopted.

Like our adopters, our children come from a range of different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, health needs and life experiences.

We particularly need adopters to come forward for:

  • White British and White European children aged 0-7 years
  • Black British or Mixed Black ethnicity children aged 0-7 years
  • Sibling groups from multiple ethnic backgrounds aged 0-8 years, including
    • White British/White European
    • Black British and mixed Black British heritage
    • Mixed Asian heritage
    • Multiple heritages
  • Children with complex needs and disabilities from all ethnic backgrounds and age ranges
  • Children with a plan of early permanence (fostering for adoption)

At Adoption@Heart, children are at the centre of everything we do. Our priority and our passion is to find the right families for our children and to support those families through their adoption journey together. We therefore prioritise the recruitment and assessment of adopters who are able to meet the needs of our children waiting.

Most children needing adoptive homes have been separated from their birth families at birth or in early childhood and most will have been in foster care. The majority of these children will have experienced loss, trauma, and abuse in their early lives. This means that adopters need to be able to accept some uncertainty about their future needs and well-being.

At Adoption@Heart, we offer training and support for our adopters so that they are equipped to parent children with differing needs. We also offer adoption support after an Adoption Order if needed.

Above you can read some of the profiles of children we have recently found families for at Adoption@Heart. Whilst these are real stories, the children's names, details and photos have been changed to protect their identity.
